OFFERING SUMMARY
The Design Center of the Carolinas (DCC) is located in the historic South End neighborhood of of Charlotte, NC and consists of three buildings and more than six acres of land. All three improvements totalling approximately 175,000 gross square feet were former manufacturing facilities, two of which are historic, and have been carefully restored and adaptively reused as showroom, office and meeting facilities. Currently all of the vacant land is being used as surface parking and offers tremendous development opportunities.
SUBMARKET OVERVIEW
The Design Center of the Carolinas is located in the heart of Charlotte's Historic South End neighborhood. The area is one of the oldest business neighborhoods in the city and South Boulevard, the primry roadway in South End, runs from the edge of dowtown and continues south for 2 miles. Its traffic count exceeds more than 25,000 cars per day. Currently, over 228 businesses in the greater design industry are located in this historic neighborhood. The DCC is the focal point of this community, and a design destination for residents of the Carolinas and beyond. In June 1998, the Charlotte City Council allocated $16.7 million in public transit funds to create a two mile rail transit corridor through Uptown Charlotte and Historic South End which currently accomodates vintage trolley and eventually light rail transit. The DCC is located along the Trolley line at the Tremont Avenue stop.
