Berkeley Capital Advisors (BCA) was established in April 1997. The principal partners are Robert S. Carter and Stephen J. Horvath. This Charlotte-based real estate brokerage firm deals exclusively in the representation of private and institutional investors in the sale and purchase of income-producing real estate in the Carolinas and throughout the Southeast.

The partners of Berkeley Capital Advisors have a combined experience of 77 years in commercial real estate investment sales and dispositions. During their careers, they have arranged:

  • over $5.9 billion in investment property transactions
  • the sale of over 373 shopping centers and malls
  • the sale of 478 net-leased single-tenant, retail, office, and industrial properties
During 2008, and 2009, Berkeley Capital Advisors arranged 104 investment property sales totaling over $415 million in value. Included were the sale of 27 shopping centers and 77 net-leased single-tenant properties, of which 85 sales satisfied tax-exchanges.

BCA does not lease, manage, develop or purchase real estate - our only business is the brokerage of investment properties, allowing us to focus on our fiduciary responsibilities to our seller and investor clients. Berkeley is very relationship-oriented and we take pride in the number of "repeat" assignments we receive from sellers that have been very satisfied with the results we achieve.

 
 

BCA's principals have represented a variety of sellers and purchasers, including life insurance companies, pension fund advisors, real estate investment trusts, lenders (including REO), bank trust real estate departments, and government agencies, plus numerous private real estate investors and partnerships. We understand the need for concise communication and timely reporting when representing our seller clients.

Although Berkeley arranges investment sales throughout the Southeast, the majority of our activity is concentrated in the Carolinas. No other brokerage group, including the national firms, has sold more shopping centers or single tenant properties in the Carolinas. Berkeley accordingly is very well known to the purchasers active in our region, and we are proud of our national reputation as a reliable and consistent source of investment properties.

For the past two years, The National Trust Real Estate Association has accepted Berkeley Capital as an affiliate "Friend".
